US and Israeli war with Iran
US and Israeli strikes on Iran from 28 February 2026 started a regional war that has drawn in Lebanon, the Gulf states and shipping in the Strait of Hormuz.
Open on the interactive globeAccording to ACAPS, since 28 February 2026 more than 1,255 civilians have been killed in Iran, more than 12,000 injured, and about 3.2 million people are internally displaced. In early September 2026, after a month-long lull, fighting escalated sharply, including around the Strait of Hormuz. Inflation in Iran reached 84 percent in August, and more than 25 hospitals have been damaged.
