Civil war in Sudan
The power struggle between the army and the RSF, fought since April 2023, has spread across Khartoum, Darfur and Kordofan and caused the world's largest displacement crisis.
Open on the interactive globeThe 2026 humanitarian plan counts 33.7 million people in need, the highest number worldwide, and 11.8 million people have fled their homes since April 2023. In August 2026 fighting continued in West and Central Darfur, and El Obeid in North Kordofan was hit by RSF drone attacks. According to the UN, the 2026 appeal was about 40 percent funded in August.
