People displaced by fighting on the Cambodia-Thailand border

Border fighting in July and December 2025 forced hundreds of thousands of people in seven Cambodian provinces to flee; a ceasefire on 27 December 2025 halted the clashes.

According to World Vision more than 640,000 people were displaced in total, and on 8 July 2026 20,923 still could not return home; the government built more than 4,000 temporary shelters. Gaps remain in education, health, protection, food and water. In December 2025 1,039 schools closed and at least 14 civilians were killed on the Cambodian side.
