According to the International Takhi Group, about 300 horses, including foals, lived in Great Gobi B at the end of 2025. Since December 2025 the horses have been fed hay in winter to reduce losses. Population growth is held back by pastures degraded by drought and intensive grazing, and cameras at waterholes recorded 913 wolf visits.
