2026 western Pacific typhoon season

East Asia, western Pacificsince July 2026

In July and August 2026 three category 4-5 typhoons (Bavi, Dolphin, Saudel) passed over or near the Ryukyu Islands and the east coast of China; Bavi and Dolphin made landfall in Zhejiang province.

Typhoon Bavi (July) caused at least 23 deaths, mostly in the Philippines, and Typhoon Dolphin (August) forced the evacuation of more than 1 million people in eastern China and more than 260,000 in Kagoshima and Okinawa prefectures. GDACS issued red and orange alerts for these systems, estimating exposure at more than 13 million people. The season lasts until November.
