Floods in the Urals and Tyumen region 2026

In June 2026 most of Sverdlovsk region received 2.5 to 3.5 times its usual rainfall, and in July the Tura, Pyshma, Nitsa and other rivers burst their banks; the flood wave then moved down the Tura to Tyumen.

In Sverdlovsk region 455 houses and 3,019 plots had been flooded by 22 July 2026, most of them in Irbit and Irbit district, and 22 settlements with 1,758 residents had disrupted transport links; states of emergency were declared in several districts. On 28 July the governor of Tyumen region declared a regional state of emergency; by 5 August 133 houses and 1,964 plots were flooded and 64 people had been evacuated. Tyumen residents reported dead fish in the Tura and contaminated water. The Russian Red Cross delivered relief items in municipalities of Sverdlovsk region.
