Monsoon floods in Pakistan

The 2026 monsoon season began around 26 June; despite a below-normal rainfall outlook, short intense downpours are causing flash floods, urban flooding and landslides in the north of the country.

According to NDMA data cited by the IFRC, 163 people died and 483 were injured by 23 August 2026. Khyber Pakhtunkhwa recorded the most deaths, and Chitral district suffered the heaviest damage after a cloudburst and glacial lake outburst flood on 3 August.
