The University of Gdańsk Hel Marine Station researches and protects Baltic marine mammals: it runs a seal rehabilitation centre and the Harbour Porpoise House, devoted to protecting the critically endangered Baltic Proper harbour porpoise. In 2026 it is raising funds for new isolation tanks for seal pups.
